The Rangeview Library District would like to thank the voters of Adams County for their support in the November 7th election. By a 10% margin, voters throughout the District elected to provide the libraries with an additional 2.261 mills on the property tax. This additional income will allow the District to not only keep open, but expand its current libraries and build two new structures. Many, many volunteers helped to make this a very successful grassroots campaign. The District and the Save Our Libraries Campaign Committee are holding thank-you parties at all the branches. Everyone interested in helping us celebrate this fine moment and bright future is welcome. A breakdown of the election results is now available. The following table shows the Yes and No votes by city. It also shows the absentee and provisional vote results. Voting Totals*
*Not absolute A thank-you party at the Thornton Branch was held on November 14th. Many of the volunteers who walked flyers, manned events and supported the effort were on hand. The Quintana family, ranging in age 3 year-old Allison to 10 year-old Ryan, with 5 year-old Sam and Dan, in the middle, rounded out with 10 year-old cousin Joseph, walked an entire precinct. All came for the cake and the celebrating.
At the Commerce City Branch volunteers and Library District Board members celebrated together on November 15th. The additional funding the mill levy brings will mean the Commerce City Branch will double in size. The community will be asked for input as the plans are formed. We do know that increased computer stations are a must.
The District will soon be holding focus groups in the various communities to elicit feedback from citizens about what they want to see in their "new" libraries. Thanks again!
