New Buildings Update |
Bennett Branch
Library
The first new Rangeview
Library District branch will be built in the community of Bennett. A 7,000
square foot structure will replace the current 2,000 square foot
structure. Construction is scheduled to begin mid summer. Opening of
the new library is planned for late spring 2009. During construction the
Bennett Library is planning for a temporary location to be announced soon.
Brighton Branch
Library
Groundbreaking for a
20,000 square foot library in Brighton is slated for late summer 2008. The
new structure will be built downtown at Bridge and 4th Streets. It will
replace the current 6,700 square foot structure which is severely under capacity
for the demands of the growing Brighton community. The education cultural
complex is "visioned" to become a regional destination.
Huron Street Branch
Library
The Huron Street Library
will be a 25,000 square foot structure on the west side of Huron Street at
94th. The site is already home to a park and bike trails. The
library is being designed to connect with the natural environment, including a
children's park directly off the children's department. Groundbreaking is
slated for September 2008. Plans to open the library are set for September
of 2009.
Wright Farms Branch
Library
The Wright Farms Branch
Library will become Rangeview Library District's flagship library. The 45,000
square foot structure will house a beautiful library and park, as well as the
district's outreach and support services. Located on 120th between Holly
and Jasmine Streets, it is expected to open its doors in late 2009. The
library will feature specially created interior spaces for technology, teens,
books and media collections and study/reading areas.
Groundbreaking is slated for November 2008. A community meeting with
discussions with Architect Dennis Humphries is scheduled for Thursday, May
29th at 6:30 PM at Glacier Peak Elementary School, 12060 Jasmine
Street. The public is invited. Participants are asked to enter the
building through the southwest door.
Architect Dennis
Humphries will be reviewing the design development for the proposed new library
and solicit feedback from the public.
Libraries To Be
Renovated
The Commerce City, Perl
Mack, and Thornton Libraries will be undergoing interiors upgrades during
2008. Planning for the renovation and expansion of the Perl Mack and
Commerce City Libraries will begin in 2009, to be completed in 2010. The
Thornton Library renovation will proceed in a similar timetable.
