Welcome to the Rangeview Library District (RLD), which serves all residents of Adams County except those living in Aurora, Westminster and Deer Trail School District 26-J, all of which are served by libraries that existed before the establishment of the library. The RLD provides services from six branch libraries and from Outreach Services, which operates the bookmobile and offers such off-site services as monthly visits to homebound residents. Adams County is one of the seven major counties making up the Denver metropolitan area, and it is located just north of the City and County of Denver. The Rangeview Library District serves a diverse population and a large geographic area. It serves the rural towns of Bennett and Strasburg, the cities of Brighton, Commerce City, Federal Heights, Northglenn and Thornton, and all unincorporated portions of the county, west to east. The RLD is funded separately from the county, by an earmarked property mill levy of 1.386 mills that is levied on all those residing in its service area. Any increase to its mill levy requires voter approval. Other sources of income include fees, grants and interest on investments. The Friends of the Adams County Public Library, a non-profit organization founded in 1983, provides additional support for the library's collections and programs and serves as an advocate for the library. The RLD will operate with the oversight and supportive services of Adams County through 2004 and will not become operationally independent until January 1, 2005. The Adams County Board of County Commissioners appoints the five-member Library Board of Trustees that oversees the operation of the RLD. The RLD is a major resource for students in more than seven school districts, for students receiving private and home schooling, for students pursuing higher education and for all who seek information or recreation. An RLD library card is honored at all RLD branch libraries. The RLD card may also be used to acquire library cards at all libraries in Adams County as well as most public, academic and school libraries throughout Colorado. The Library District is a unified library. While each branch had its own collection of materials, circulating items move easily between branches. Administration provides a central point for purchasing, processing and distributing materials. Go to the circulation desk at any branch or the Bookmobile. You will need to bring proof of address. A picture ID may be requested. Youth under 16 must have a parent or guardian fill in the parent/guardian information and sign the application.

Rangeview Library District The Rangeview Library District provides access to the internet as an information service to its customers. Internet resources accessible through the Library are provided to users, with the understanding that it is the individual user's responsibility to demonstrate judgment, respect for others and appropriate conduct while using Library resources and facilities. Parents or legal guardians are responsible for making decisions with their children about appropriate use of the internet. To address issues of safety and security of minors when using electronic mail, chat rooms, and other forms of electronic communication, parents and guardians should urge minors to follow basic safety guidelines: never give out personal information (name, address, phone number, etc) never arrange via a computer to meet someone and never respond to messages that are threatening or suggestive, remembering that people online may not be who they say they are. In compliance of state and federal laws (HB 04-1004 Internet Protection in Public Libraries. C.R. S. 24-90-601-606 and Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA), Pub. L.
